Softball is bat-and-ball sport. It is a variant of baseball, played with a larger ball on a smaller diamond-shaped field. The ball is pitched underhand rather than freestyle. In fast-pitch softball, two teams compete with 9 players in their starting line-up and usually play 7 innings. An inning consists of two halves with one team playing as defense and the other team playing as offence. The defensive team is the fielding team while the offensive team is batting and trying to score runs. While on offence, players take turns batting until three players have been put out.
The Softball Club, HKUSTSU is now recruiting members to be the HKUST Softball Team and
represent the University to compete in the inter-collegiate competitions organized by the
Hong Kong Intercollegiate Softball Association.
