Rowing is a water sport that involves propelling a boat along the water using oars. It can be a recreational activity or competitive sport and can be performed in lakes, on rivers, or even in the sea. No matter which discipline, rowing has tremendous health benefits and can help develop aerobic and muscular fitness.

The Rowing Club, HKUSTSU was founded in 1993. The Club is affiliated to the Students’ Union and advised by Dean of Students' Office (DSTO) of HKUST. The Club aims to create awareness for the sport of rowing within the University student body and help Club Members develop fundamental skills. Outstanding Club Members will be recruited to be Members of HKUST Rowing Team and represent the University to compete in inter-varsity competitions.
